Leo Jerome Clark, 61, of Sedalia, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2006, at Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia.

He was born Feb. 14, 1945, in Sleepy Eye, Minn., a son of Clarence E. and Anna M. Baechler Clark. On June 16, 1970, in Miami, Okla., he was married to Patricia Sue Ripley, who died June 12, 2004.

Mr. Clark was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, reaching the rank of sergeant. He earned a purple heart, Vietnam service medal, national defense service medal, Republic of Vietnam campaign medal and sharpshooter certification using the M-16 rifle. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing and collecting arrowheads.

Surviving are a son, Isaac James Clark, of Kodak, Tenn.; his mother, of Macon; seven sisters, Elaine Dahlke, of Brownton, Minn., Doris Petre, of Moberly, Florence Phillips, of  Swannanoa, N.C.; Arlene Collins, of Jacksonville, Phyllis Mueller, of Sedalia, Alice Swetnam, of Jacksonville, and Lou Ann Cross, of Jefferson City; four brothers, Harold Clark, of Spruce Grove, Alberta, Canada, Marvin Clark, of Cedar Rapids, Ia., Vernon Clark, of Columbia, and Dennis Clark, of Macon; two grandchildren, Robin Twenter McMains and Thomas Gage Pozenel; a great grandson, Gage McMains; and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his father; and a brother, Allan H. Clark.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, September 8, 2006, at Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Bob Wasson officiating.

Pallbearers will be William Cross, Lloyd Swetnam, Sam Fleury, Hugo Twenter, Larry Claycomb and Merlyn Shephard. Honorary pallbearers will be Lloyd Collins, Melvin Dahlke, Jack Petre, Ralph Blakeley and Jeff Ferguson.

Burial will be in Mt. Herman Cemetery, with military honors conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2591.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
