Otho Douglas Linn, 53, of Sedalia, died Sunday, December 31, 2006, at his home.
He was born March 31, 1953, in Canton, MS., a son of Willie and Ella Smith Linn, Jr. On May 17, 1974 in Hillsboro, Kan., he married Grace Balthaser, who survives of the home.
Mr. Linn was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and taught pre-school Sunday school classes. He was a member of the Sedalia Noonday Optimist Club, served on the Liberty-Tambo Apartments board; the State Fair Community College Booster Club and the Central Missouri State University Advisory Committee Business Department Board. He worked as a Manager, District Manager and retired in 2001 as a Franchise Service Consultant for Hardee’s Food System/CKE.
Doug coached his two sons’ AAU basketball teams. He loved fishing and hunting and enjoyed attending all of State Fair Community Colleges sporting events. He enjoyed gardening and cooking for his family especially during holiday meals.
Also surviving are two sons, Andrew Linn, of Phoenix, AZ., and Adam Linn, of Sedalia; an adopted son, Dierre Robinson, of Sedalia; his mother, Ella Linn, of West Monroe, LA.; a brother, Melvin Lynn, of Carmichael, CA.; three sisters, Arma Hanspard, of Seattle, WA., Gwen Linn, Seattle, WA., and Beverly Linn, of Sterlington, LA.
He was predeceased by his father Willie Linn, Jr.; and a sister, Lori Wright.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Drew Hill officiating.
Pallbearers will be Warren Pruiett, John Schwenk, Jim VanHorn, Royal Peterson, Kim Birdsong, Gary Walkup, Terry Emo and Michael Lawson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wray Birch, Sam Anderson, Ed Kirby, Howard Durrill, Fred Biggs, Herschel Cantrell, Lee Keeting and John Bishop.
Burial will be in Mt. Herman Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel.
Memorial contributions are suggested to First Baptist Church.
