Frances Martindill Mains, 96, of Tipton, formerly of Sedalia, died Monday, December 13, 2004, at her home.

She was born March 24, 1908, in Hamden, Vinton County, Ohio, daughter of
Ernest Winfield and Sara Rowena Walters Martindill. On May 28, 1932, in
Indianapolis, Indiana, she married Hugh Woode Mains, who died April 15, 1988.

Mrs. Mains was a member of the Tipton United Methodist Church. She was a
member of the American Association of University Women, Phi Upsilon Omicron, Honorary Home Economics Sorority, Kappa Phi National Methodist Girls Sorority and Davie School Foundation. Mrs. Mains graduated from
Hamden High School in 1926, and from Ohio University, Athens, Ohio in 1930,
with a bachelor of science degree in home economics education. She taught three years in Ohio and one year in Indiana. Later she attended Barry College in North Miami, Florida, then taught for 21 years in Davie Elementary School in Davie, Florida, 10 miles west of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She retired in 1967.

Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Coggeshall, of Tipton; a son, William
Mains, of Knightstown, Indiana; two brothers, William Martindill, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Charles Scott Martindill, of Indianapolis, Indiana; and a sister, Ruth Wilson, of Haines City, Florida. She was preceded in death a son, Paul Alan Mains.

There will be no family visitation or services. The body was cremated.
