Betty H. McCory, 82, of Independence, formerly of Sedalia, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, at Independence Manor Care Center in Independence.
She was born Oct. 27, 1924, in Syracuse, a daughter of William Joseph and Martha Blanche Harned Collins. In 1962, she was married to Thomas Owen Rooney, who died in 1965. In 1977, in Winchester, Va., she was married to Raphael McCory, who died in 1982.
Mrs. McCory was a member of First Baptist Church. She was a 1942 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. She enjoyed reading.
Surviving are a son, Michael Owen Rooney, of Concordia; a daughter, Gayle Werneke Rooks, of Brandon, Fla.; four grandchildren, Megan Rooney, Charay Zimmerschied, Brian Werneke and Roger Werneke; and nine great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Sean Patrick Rooney; two brothers, Gene Collins and William Joseph Collins; and two sisters, Margaret Travers and Martha Stone.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Pastor Bill Olinger officiating.
Pallbearers will be Brian Werneke, Roger Werneke, Charles Strohman and Steve Starke.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
