Betty Blanche McNeal, 76, of Sedalia, died Monday, April 11, 2005, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
She was born May 29, 1928, in Pettis County, a daughter of Forrest E. and Susie M. Talley Hood. On August 10, 1947, in Sedalia, she was married to Melvin James McNeal, who died March 19, 1986.
Mrs. McNeal was a member of First Christian Church, where she sang in the choir. She was a member of Bothwell Hospital Auxiliary, Sedalia Chorale, Osage Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, and a former member of Helen G. Steele Music Club. She worked at PaPa Jake’s Donut Shop for 32 years. She was a member of the Class of 1945 of Smith-Cotton High School and was active in class reunions.
Surviving are three sons, Melvin James McNeal, and his wife, Deanna, of Springfield, Mark W. McNeal, and his wife, Kristine, of Holt, and Myron J. McNeal, and his wife, Susan, of Sedalia; two daughters, Kay Carr, and her husband, Burt, of Sedalia, and Melody R. Bell, of Springfield; a brother, Henry T. Hood, of Springfield; ten grandchildren, James E. McNeal, Angela Deeter, Lisa Bell, Mallory McNeal, Matthew McNeal, Micah McNeal, Albert C. McNeal, Alisa N. Paxton, Susan D. Whitson and Lucas J. McNeal; and six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by three brothers, James, Pat and Wayne Hood; a sister, Norma Bishop; and a grandson, Albert L. Carr.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2005, at Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Russell Willoughby officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2005, at the funeral home.
