Sandra Jill Merys, 50, of Independence, died Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at Center Point Medical Center in Independence.

She was born May 7, 1957, in Dodge City, Kan., a daughter of Bryce B. and Nancy J. Lane Bone. On Nov. 21, 1998, she was married to Marquis Merys, who survives of the home.
Mrs. Merys was an electrician and worked as an electrical engineer at Station Casino in Kansas City for 10 years. She earned an associates degree in electrical engineering from State Fair Community College and served a five-year apprenticeship.

She was a member of American Dog Breeders Association, where she was a weight
pull judge, Show-Me Pit Bull Terrier Club, where she was vice-president for three years, American Mule Association and Independence Pool Masters Club. She enjoyed dancing, fishing, hunting, leather working and drawing.

Also surviving are three daughters, Gina Mahaffey, of Omaha, Neb., Veronica and
Tisha, of the home; a son, Vince Merys, of the home; her mother, Nancy Byer, of Phoenix, Ariz; her stepmother, Sue Bone, of Dodge City, Kan.; her grandmother, Laura Lewis, of Dodge City; a sister, Geneanne Kearney-Wilson, of Smithton.; four brothers, Jay Bone and Joel Bone, both of Dodge City, Jeff Faulkner, of Phoenix, and Marc Faulkner, of Winfield, Kan.; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Elizabeth; her father; grandparents, John G. and
Nora Bone, and Fred and Sayde Lane; two sisters, Janie Bone Leonard and Baby Jan Bone; and a brother, Tod Faulkner.

Funeral services will be at 12 noon Saturday, June 9, 2007, at Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Donnie Hayworth officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jay Bone, Joel Bone, Jeff Faulkner, Marc Faulkner, Mike Branz
and Tony Kratzer.

Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
