Mrs. Moon was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, where she was involved with United Methodist Women. She was also a member of State Fair Saddle Club. She had worked at Wal-Mart as a cashier, and for Tullis-Hall Dairy as a secretary. She also helped her husband on the farm. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, being outdoors, gardening and traveling.
Also surviving are a stepson, Donnie Moon, and his wife, Debbie, of Sedalia; three stepdaughters, Debbie Shaw, and her husband, Kenneth, Linda Broaddus, and her husband, Tom, and Tammy Amos, and her husband, Charles, all of Sedalia; four grandsons, Chad Broaddus, Dustin Broaddus, Zachary Amos and Brad Shaw; two brothers, Robert Blumhorst, of Slater, and Kenneth Blumhorst, of Nelson; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Wilbert Blumhorst.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 2, 2006, at Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Freddie Blohm and the Rev. Debbie Grossardt-Arvelo officiating.
Pallbearers will be Tom Blumhorst, Glen Eidson, Glenn Powell, Tim Ehlers, Gary Blumhorst and Chris Blumhorst.
Burial will be in Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery near Arrow Rock.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2006, at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Bethel United Methodist Church.




Vernell “Nellie” Moon, 74, of Sedalia, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2006, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center.
She was born July 17, 1932, in Saline County, a daughter of Chris and Albertha Klasing Blumhorst. On Nov. 12, 1973, in Kansas City, she was married to Robert W. Moon, who survives of the home.
