from Smith-Cotton High School in 1939. On April 17, 1941, she married Herbert P. Mackesty, who died July 7, 1976. On December 21, 1972, in Liberty, she married Raymond Morgenstern, who died December 15, 1987.
Jewel was a former cub scout leader, 4-H club leader, and girl scout leader. She held several positions in the Mormon Church (LDS). She worked at North Kansas City Hospital in nursing staff. She held the position of Information and Referral Advocate for District III area aging at the Sedalia Senior Center. She volunteered for Division of Family Services and the Mayor's Santa Claus program.
Surviving are four children, Judith Wright, and husband, Glenn, of Yerington, NV, Mary Barber, of Osage Beach, Herb Mackesty, and wife, Linda, of Sedalia, and Michael Mackesty, and wife, Betty, of Liberty; a sister, Mary Lou Cave, of Sedalia; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was also predeceased by her parents; a brother, Rowland Rowlette; and a great-granddaughter, Kayla Adkins.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 16, at Heckart Funeral Home.
Casket bearers will be Terri Lowe, Shawn Colgan Sr., Shawn Colgan Jr., Eric Colgan, Kalop Pugh, and Tim Grawe.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time Thursday at Heckart Funeral Home.

Jewel Loraine Morgenstern, 88, of Sedalia, passed away Monday, July 13, 2009, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center.
She was born August 3, 1920, in Sedalia, a daughter of Kenneth B. and Augusta Dean Furnell Rowlette. She graduated
