Barry Wayne Morton, 61, of Sedalia, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2009, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

He was born June 16, 1948, in Sedalia, the son of William Wayne and Ida Ruth Lower Morton. On December 26, 1970, in Sedalia, he married Martha Rowles, who survives of the home.

He attended Washington Elementary School and graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in 1966. He graduated from the University of Missouri School of Veterinary Medicine in 1973, where he also played baseball for one year. Barry practiced veterinary medicine in La Monte for 36 years. He raised cattle, and enjoyed fishing and St. Louis Cardinals baseball. He was a member of Broadway Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his wife, survivors include four children, Erin Lazenby, and her husband, Steven, of La Monte, Travis Morton, of La Monte, Lance Morton and Janet Henson, of Sedalia, and Courtney Davis, and her husband, Rob, of Sedalia; four grandchildren, Zachary Lazenby, Emma Lazenby, Andrew Lazenby, and Kameron Morton; a sister, Susan Myrick, and her husband, Len, of Yukon, OK; three nephews, Matt Myrick, Ryan Myrick, and Scott Myrick, and his wife, Alissa; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jim Downing officiating.

Casket bearers will be David Sullivan, Donald Sullivan, John Sullivan, Brent Wells, Leo Richards and Len Myrick.

Honorary bearers will be Mack Parrish, Mark Parrish, Keith Parrish, Matt Myrick, Ryan Myrick, Scott Myrick, Troy Harvey, Jack McGinnis, and Zachary Lazenby.

Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Heckart Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to American Cancer Society.
