James Jerome Murray, 88, of Sedalia, died Saturday, October 25, 2003, at his home.
He was born April 10, 1915, in California, Missouri, son of James Marshall and Dora Elizabeth Flippin Murray. On March 12, 1938, in Sedalia, he married




Josephine G. Wahlers, who survives of the home.
Mr. Murray was a member of First Baptist Church. He served as a Sunday School teacher in various churches for 50 years. He was active with the Habitat for Humanity and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. He worked in woolen mills for six years and for the Missouri Pacific Shops for ten years, and later became a new home construction contractor. He loved hunting, fishing, working in his garden and yard, and most of all he loved his family. He had lived most of his life in Sedalia.
Survivors include his wife, Josephine Murray of the home; three daughters, Peggy Hieronymus, Blue Springs, Missouri, Judy Harmon and Sherry Smethers, both Sedalia; a brother, William Murray, Sedalia; two sisters, Byrdia Hughes and Geraldine Andrick, both of Sedalia; four grandchildren; and a great grandson. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Jo Murray; a brother, Marshall Junior Murray; and three sisters, Rosa Albin, Lois Dudley and Lorene Hatfield.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 27, 2003, at the Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel with Dr. Drew Hill officiating.
Pallbearers will be Bill Imhauser, Virgil Wills, Clay Young, Bob Gooch, Larry Howard and John Petree
Honorary bearers will be Bob Bailey, Bus Walker and Clifford Scott
Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
There will be no family visitation however friends may call after 9:00 a.m. until service time Monday at the Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel. Friends may also sign the guest register online at www.heckart-gillespie.com.
