Opal Ernestine Norton, 84, of Sedalia, died Thursday, September 15, 2005, at Rest Haven Convalescent and Retirement Home.

She was born August 6, 1921, in Pettis County, a daughter of Everitt Allen and Eva Rebecca Bradley Norton.

Mrs. Norton was a member of Broadway Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Sedalia Business College. She worked as a cook at the Coffee Pot Café and Eddie’s Drive-In. She lived most of her life in Sedalia.

Survivors include a brother, Herman Norton, of Sedalia; two sisters, Lenora Priddy, of Harleyville, S.C. and Bertha Snyder, of Marion, Ohio; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, Harold Norton, Everitt Norton, Melvin Norton and Gordon Norton.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, September 19, 2005, at Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Larry Wheeler officiating.

Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery.

Friends may call from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and after noon Sunday at Heckart/Gillespie Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
