Orville Louis Perkins, our beloved father, grandfather and friend was called
home to be with his Lord Monday, June 20, 2005. A service celebrating Orville’s life and memory will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 1600 South Quincy, Sedalia, MO at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2005. The family will greet friends in a small informal gathering to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Human Service, Sedalia, Missouri.
Perk, as his friends knew him, was born to Christopher Columbus and Martha
Crow Perkins on September 24, 1910 in Eminence, Missouri and had moved to Sedalia, MO when he was 12 years old.
He married Earlene Eakins, now deceased, in 1941 and is survived by one
daughter Deanie, of Sedalia; granddaughter Natalie and husband Mark Ellis, Broken Arrow, OK; granddaughter Amy, husband Billy Johnson, of Sunrise Beach, and great-grandson, Nash, Sunrise Beach, MO and grandson Matthew Long, Versailles, MO.
He worked for Pittsburg Corning, in Sedalia, Missouri until retirement in 1975. After retirement life had just begun. He lived with his daughter and her family the balance of his life. He recently returned to the Sedalia area after living in the Florida Keys for eight years. He always had a wonderful story or song to tell or sing and never would you find this man being sad. He had an uncanny ability to always see the light in the storm no matter how dark.
Perk was a simple man that will never be known in a huge public way, but he is a
man who touched every life that came across his path. He was known as Dad, PaPa, Pop and of course Perk and will live in our hearts and in our memories forever. Save me a place in heaven for when I get there, PaPa……we love you so much and our words are so inadequate to express how much you will be missed!
