Orange Lee Rodgers, 78, Sedalia, died Thursday, November 30, 2006, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
He was born, September 26, 1928, in Stockdale, Texas, a son of Sonny and Hally Zumo Rodgers. On December 23, 1950, he married Effie Harrell, who died February 18, 1995.
Mr. Rodgers was a member of the Stewart Avenue Church of Christ. He was a forklift operator at Payless Cashways. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved to sing and play several instruments.
Survivors include two daughters, Diana L. Watson, of Mission, Kan., and Rosilyn R. Jackson, and her husband, Irvin, of Kansas City; three grandchildren, Joseph D. Rodgers, Trinna Malone and Ranisha Watson; six great grandchildren, Shamirra
Rodgers, Sheleesa Rodgers, Jarrell Rodgers, Mario Miles, Malachi Miles and Merian
Miles; a special friend, Lillie Evans, of Kansas City; two brothers, Fred and John
Rodgers, both of California; and two sisters, Demeris and Bessie L. Rodgers, Fort
Worth, Texas. He was predeceased by a brother, Marvin Rodgers.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2006, at the Stewart Avenue Church of Christ, with Minister John Scaggs officiating.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Rodgers, Roy Scaggs, Gene Arnett, Jason Arnett, Jim Foster and Bill Stokes.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2006, at Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel.
