Mr. Painter was an Episcopalian and a member of DeMolay, Granite Lodge # 272 AF & AM; Sedalia Shrine Club, Knight Templar, Boy Scout and an Eagle Scout. He was a 1955 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School and attended CMSC ,  Warrensburg. He played football at Smith-Cotton and CMSC. Mr. Painter liked to fish, hunt and woodworking.  He lived in this community most of his life and was employed as a pressman at Inter-State Studio for 22 years. Mr. Painter  was a member of the Missouri National Guard.

Survivors  include a daughter, Sherry Jo Painter-Torres and her husband, Enrique; a grandson, Phoenix Painter-Torres; his Mother, Ruth Painter of Sedalia; and two sisters, Donna Margerum, Reno, NV. and Sharon Painter, Sedalia. He was predeceased by his father.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at Heckart Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Donald J. Allcorn officiating.

Pallbearers will be Enrique Torres, Michael Rathmann, Tim Meyer, Fred Gottschalk, Elbert Gottschalk and Mark Kahle. Honorary pallbearers will be Rhoenix Painter-Torres, Dr. D. K. Allcorn, Rick Bain, Morris Hinken, George Bain, Anthony Torres and Andrew Torres.

Burial will be in Dresden Cemetery.

The family receive friends from 6:30- 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

The family suggests contributions to Dresden Cemetery.
Nelson Lee Painter, 70, of LaMonte, died Friday March 14, 2008 at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

He was born July 21, 1937 in Biloxi, MS a son of Harold Nelson and Ruth Gottschalk Painter. On January 3, 1969 in Kansas City, Mo. he married Rose Mary Woodrome who survives of the home.
