Geneva Ruth “Babe” Ray, 73, of Sedalia, died Monday, May 7, 2007 at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
She was born Oct. 8, 1933, in rural Pettis County, a daughter of Paul O. and Beulah B. Richards Harvey.
Ms. Ray was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was active in Sunday School. She enjoyed her
indoor plants and spending time with her grandchildren. She lived all of her life in Sedalia.
Surviving are two sons, David Ray, of Lee’s Summit, and Doug Ray, and his wife,
Patty, of Greenville, Ala.; a daughter, Charlotte Ray, of Bethpage, Tenn.; a sister, Anna
Lee Harvey Bail, of Sedalia; two brothers, Robert Dean Harvey and Harold “Red”
Harvey, both of Sedalia; five grandchildren, Andrea Ray, Cris Williams, Josh Ray,
Lindsey Ray and Cynthia Hamilton; one great granddaughter, Presley Hamilton. She
was predeceased by a daughter, Sherry Lu Ray.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2007, at Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Drew Hill officiating.
Pallbearers will be Josh Ray, Cris Williams, Alan Harvey, Red Harvey and Bobby Harvey.
Honorary pallbearers will be Janet Alley, Dr. William Irvin, Rhonda Quigley and Roberta Lemieux.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Arthritis Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
