Ruth Marie Christian, 86, of Sedalia, died Wednesday, January 17, 2007, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
She was born January 12, 1921, in Pettis County, a daughter of Harry and Hannah Gibson Sowers. On January 1, 1938, in Marshall, she was married to Edward M. Christian, who died September 5, 2002.
Mrs. Christian was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was a Girl
Scout and Brownie Leader, and a den mother of Cub Scouts. She enjoyed doing crafts
and participating in the Sedalia Rod and Gun Club Ladies Auxiliary, PTA, March of
Dimes and working at the election polls. She was a house wife and had lived most of her life in Sedalia.
Surviving are a son, Gary Christian, and his wife, Bonnie, of Sedalia; a daughter,
Judy O’Brien, and her husband, Bernard, of Odessa; seven grandchildren, Shelli Dale,
Debbi McAfee, Gennifer Christian, Elisabeth O’Brien, James O’Brien, Brianne O’Brien
and Christian O’Brien; and four great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Annabelle Gosnell and Mildred Kehl.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 22, 2007, at Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Jim Downing officiating.
Pallbearers will be Bernard O’Brien, James O’Brien and Christian O'Brien. Austin O’Brien will be an honorary pallbearer.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the funeral home,
where the family will receive friends 10 a.m. until service time Monday. Condolences
