Betty Jean Rhoads, 66, of Sedalia, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at her home.

She was born March 13, 1938, in Dresden, daughter of Harold “Ike” and Margaret Hieronymus Stephens.  On November 13, 1956, in Sedalia, she married Kenneth O. Rhoads, who survives of the home.

Mrs. Rhoads was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. She worked as a waitress at Mom and Pop’s Café and Oasis Café. She owned her own cattle operation and loved working with her cattle and tending to her flowers, going on long walks with her dog and painting.  She had lived most of her life in the Sedalia area.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Rhoads, of the home; a son, Shenandoah Z. Rhoads, of the home and a daughter, Thresea J. Rhoads, of the home.  She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth O Rhoads, Jr. and her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m Saturday, June 12, 2004 at the Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel with Rev. Gary Smith officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Herman Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mike Watring, Dick Parrish, Wayne McMullin, Conrad Stephens, Brad Rowland and Walt Loveland. Honorary pallbearers will be Betty Gowans, Sue Parrish, Vi McMullin, Kelly Garrett and Loree Loveland.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2004, at the Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel. 

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Mid Missouri Humane Society.
