Robert William “R.W.” Lewis, 81, of Sedalia, died Saturday, September 2, 2006, at Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia.

He was born March 15, 1925, in Kansas City, Missouri, a son of Joe Smith and
Clara Mabel Muchmore Lewis. On Jan. 25, 1952, in Kansas City, he was married to Lois Ernestine Bonell, who survives of the home.

Mr. Lewis was an Army veteran of World War II. He was awarded a purple
heart. He and his wife moved to Sedalia in 1998. Prior to that he owned an auto
parts store in Paonia, Colorado. He was a Baptist.

Also surviving are nine nieces and nephews, Russell Crane, of Boonville, Richard Crane, of Holt, Judy Maycock, of Kansas City, Ronald Crane, of Topeka,
Bob Lewis, of Independence, Connie Smith, of Golden, Cheryl Bordelon, of
Jacksonville, Fla., Randy Porter, of Blue Springs, and Gary Porter, of Lee’s Summit.

He was predeceased by a brother, Meredith W. Lewis; a sister, Doris June
Porter; and a niece, Rebecca Rittermeyer.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Missouri State Veterans
Cemetery in Higginsville, with military honors presented by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2591.
