Herbert J. Rother, 74, of Sedalia, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
He was born Oct. 1, 1931, in Frankenstein, Germany, a son of Heinrich and
Martha Leber Rother. On April 11, 1959, in Cole Camp, he was married to Maria H. Mandel, who survives of the home.
Mr. Rother came to Canada from Germany in 1953 on a work-for-passage
program. He then came to the United States in 1956. He worked as a truck driver for Sedalia Fruit Company for 35 years, retiring in 1995. He enjoyed flower gardening and watching westerns, especially John Wayne. He was a Catholic.
Also surviving are a daughter, Barbara A. Fain, and her husband, Ron, of
Marshall; a grandson, Tristan Rother, of Marshall; two brothers, Alfred Rother and Erhardt Rother, both of Germany; and a sister, Helga Schmidt, of Germany.
He was predeceased by four sisters and three brothers.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 17, 2005, at Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Vincent Hoying officiating.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 until service time Monday at the
funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions to American Diabetes Association.
