Mr. Stephens was of the Baptist faith. He  lived in Arkansas for twenty years
before moving to Sedalia five years ago to be near family. He served in the United States Army during World War II, serving with the 113th Armored Division.

Survivors include a sister, Doris Pritchett, of Ash Grove, Missouri; a step son,
Dwaine Cowsert, of Sweet Springs, Missouri; two twin step daughters, Roberta Deitch and Alberta Dinsmore; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Allan Roy Stephens, in 1965, at the age of 14; three sisters; and six brothers.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2005, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Rogers, Arkansas.                                 

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, in Rogers, Arkansas

Friends may call after 8:30 a.m. Monday at Heckart/Gillespie Funeral Home,

Roy W. Stephens, 90, of Sedalia, died Thursday evening, August 18, 2005, at Fair View Nursing Home. 

He was born October 16, 1914, in Arcadia, Kansas, a son of William “Bill” Ples and Clara West Stephens. On March 25, 1950, he was married to Velma May Hawkins, who preceded him in death, August 16, 1996.
