Ray Dean Rumsey, 74, of Sedalia, died Friday, July 2, 2004, at his home.
He was born September 14, 1929, in Pettis County, son of Elijah Louis and Virginia Ward Rumsey. On May 24, 1958, in Sedalia, he was married to Joan H. Yeager, who survives of the home.
Mr. Rumsey was a carman mechanic for Union Pacific Railroad, retiring in 1991. He had been of resident of the Sedalia community all his life. He enjoyed hunting. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. Mr. Rumsey was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
Survivors include a son, Michael Rumsey, of Sedalia; a step son, John Burkey, of Sedalia; a grandson, Jacob Rumsey, of Sedalia; and three sisters, Helen, Ruth and Betty.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at the Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Carl West officiating.
Pallbearers will be Michael Rumsey, Jacob Rumsey, John Burkey and Andy Staus.
Burial will be in Mt. Herman Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, July 5, 2004, and from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at the Heckart/Gillespie Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2004.
