Elmer Joseph Scholl, Jr. 90, of Marshall, formerly of Sedalia, died Friday, June 4, 2004, at the Fitzgibbon Living Center, Marshall.
He was born June 27, 1913, in Pisgah, Missouri, son of Elmer Joseph, Sr. and Emelia Schnuer Scholl. He was married to Lola M. Potts, who died January 10, 1991 and on March 11, 1991, he married Fern Canida who survives of the home.
Mr. Scholl was a member of Fortuna Baptist Church, lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. He worked as a self employed carpenter building new homes. He was a Sargent in the United States Army serving during World War II, when he became a prisoner of war. Elmer liked farming and John Deere tractors. He liked to garden and he loved having big dinners with his family. He lived most of his life in the Sedalia area.
Survivors include his wife Fern Scholl of the home, a step son Floyd Mummert, California, Missouri; a brother, Gerald Scholl, Morton, Illinois; five step grandchildren; ten step great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 7, 2004, at the Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel with Rev. Bruce Sneed officiating. Pallbearers will be Claude Canida, Clyde Flora, Wayne Rowles, Bill Rowles, Doug Menser and Robert Flora. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery were Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2591 will conduct full military honors at the grave side.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, June 6, 2004 at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association.
