Ruby Elizabeth Schondelmeyer, 83, of Sedalia, died Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center.

She was born September 1, 1921, in Pettis County, a daughter of Shelton Isaac and Louise Pauline Butterwick Karrick. On May 14, 1944, in Houstonia, she was married to John F. Schondelmeyer, who died February 4, 1995.


Mrs. Schondelmeyer was a member of Broadway Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School, and Missouri State Teachers Association. She earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree at Central Missouri State University. She taught
business and math at Smith-Cotton High School.

Surviving are three sons, John R. Schondelmeyer, and his wife, Sharon, of Bellevue, Neb., Stephen W. Schondelmeyer, and his wife, Connie, of St. Paul, Minn., and David A. Schondelmeyer, of Hughesville; a daughter, Merilou J. Staubus, and her husband, Kent, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; a sister, Lucille Karrick, of Sedalia; eleven grandchildren, Sarah Schondelmeyer, Kate Schondelmeyer, Scott Schondelmeyer, Amy Schondelmeyer, Heidi Schondelmeyer, Kara Schondelmeyer, Dustin Schondelmeyer, John-David Schondelmeyer, Kris Schondelmeyer, Andrew Staubus and Matthew Staubus; and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2005, at Broadway Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Vicki Rucker and the Rev. Dr. Larry Wheeler officiating.

Pallbearers will be John-David Schondelmeyer, Dustin Schondelmeyer, Kris Schondelmeyer, Scott Schondelmeyer, Andrew Staubus and Kent Staubus.

Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
