Betty Jean Semkin, 83, of Smithton, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at the Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center.
She was born November 4, 1928, in Smithton, daughter of George Henry and Amelia L. Ratje
Meyer. On April 9, 1948, at Lake Creek United Methodist Church near Smithton, she married Leonard Henry Semkin, who survives.
Mrs. Semkin was a member of the Smithton United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a former member of the Eastern Star and participated in the Smithton Senior Citizens' Center. She worked as a teller at the Smithton Bank and also did bookkeeping for her husband's service station, Lennie's Service.
In addition to her husband, surviving are a daughter, Sharon Atkinson, and her husband, John, of Sedalia; two grandsons, Brett, and his wife, Pam, and Blake, and his wife, Suzie; and a great-grandson, Trenton.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2012, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jason Veale officiating.
Casket bearers will be Greg Harrell, Andrew Harrell, Jeff Rothen, Warren Anderson, Steve Goldsmith, Dan Page and Jeff Carver.
Burial will be in Smithton Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Heckart Funeral Home.
