Shirley Joan Shanahan, 65, of Sedalia, died Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at her home.

She was born October 29, 1939, in Lamore, North Dakota, a daughter of Arthur and Minnie Scouten Farnam. On October 1, 1958, in San Diego, California, she was married to John R. “Jack” Shanahan, who survives of the home.


Mrs. Shanahan was a member of Sacred Heart Church and Taking Off Pounds Sensibly. She enjoyed gardening.

Also surviving are three sons, David R. Shanahan, of Sedalia, Darren P. Shanahan, of Warwick, Rhode Island, and Derrek J. Shanahan, and his wife, Carleen, of Seekonk, Massachusetts; a daughter, Danene D. Jarvis, of Sedalia; four sisters, Bonnie Jensen, of Huron, South Dakota, Betty Chapin, of Miller, South Dakota, Jean Burlum, of Worland, Wyoming, and Lois Serfling, of Huron, South Dakota; a brother, Don Farnam, of Rock Springs, Wyoming; fifteen grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Dodi A. Shanahan; and her parents.

Memorial services will be held at a later date in South Dakota.
