Nellie G. Shireman, 89, of Houstonia, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007, at Tipton Oak Manor in Tipton.

She was born Sept. 5, 1918, in McGirk, a daughter of Robert and Bertha Higgins Walter. On Aug. 16, 1936, she was married to Archibald Shireman, who died April 13,
1994.
Mrs. Shireman was an active member of Hughesville Baptist Church. She enjoyed
cooking and quilting. She was known for sending cards and taking food to people.

Surviving are seven sons, Lloyd Shireman, and his wife, Patricia, of Houstonia, Adam
E. Shireman, and his wife, Leslie, of Houstonia, Archie Shireman Jr., and his wife, Carolyn, of Sedalia, Daniel Shireman, of Sedalia, Richard Shireman, and his wife, Janice, of Sedalia, Clarence Robert Shireman, and his wife, Rhonda, of Sweet Springs, and David Shireman, of Tempe, Ariz.; a daughter, Pamela Morrow, and her husband, Denzil, of Russellville; two sisters, Bessie Helen Yeoman, of San Diego, Calif., and Anne Bluhm, of Sedalia; sixteen grandchildren, Lori Hutsell, Angela G. Shireman, Tammy Hays, Douglas Morrow, Ronald Morrow, Sandra Ehrhardt, Troy Shireman, Nicole Englert, Brooke Shireman, Travis Shireman, Trenton Shireman, Kevin Shireman, Sara Shireman, Amber Cornine, Dru Shireman and Lisa Harper; and 22 great grandchildren.

She was also predeceased by a son, Dennis “Dean” Shireman; three sisters, Velma
Walter, in infancy, Marie Jackson and Alma Branstetter; and six brothers, Otto, Herbert, Charlie, Adam, Ben and Adolph Walter.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Carl Gravitt officiating.

Pallbearers will be Trenton Shireman, Travis Shireman, Ron Morrow, Kevin Shireman, Shawn Ehrhardt and Doug Morrow.

Burial will be in Highland Sacred Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral

The family suggests memorial contributions to Baptist Children’s Home in Bridgeton,
Mo., or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
