The Rev. Clarence Wayne Shoemaker, Sr., 75, of Hughesville, died Saturday evening, June 2, 2012, at Fair View Nursing Home.

He was born January 7, 1937, in Blackwater, son of William Wesley and Reba Biggs Shoemaker. On December 3, 1957, in Sedalia, he married Linda Lou Swope, who survives of the home.

Wayne was an ordained Baptist minister and was a member and former pastor of Memorial Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and enjoyed sharing God's love with others. He also worked in maintenance at State Fair Community College for 30 years. He was a member of the Tractor Pullers Association. He served in the Army Reserve.

In addition to his wife of 55 years, he is survived by five children, Peggy Johnson, of Sedalia, Wayne Shoemaker Jr., of Otterville, Kandy Caulder, of North Carolina, Neal Shoemaker, of Marshall, and Penny Perry, of Hughesville; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and five siblings, Kathleen Newman, Greg Shoemaker, Renne Goodson, Monte Shoemaker and Norma Danforth.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by twin daughters, Billy Jo and Kelly Jo; and one grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tony Chapman and the Rev. Donnie Hayworth officiating.

Casket bearers will be Grant Newton, Michael Perry, Matt Shoemaker, Ervin Johnson, Larry Claycomb and Henry Saddler.

Honorary bearers will be Douglas Wayne Shoemaker, David Williams, H.A. Williams and Fred Biggs.

Burial will be in Mt. Herman Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the U.S. Army and VFW Post 2591.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time Tuesday at Heckart Funeral Home.
