Gloria Jean Reid Slusher 'Granny', 81, of Sedalia, Missouri, beloved mother, grandmother, great- grandmother mother and aunt, died on April 6, 2008. Gloria died peacefully at Fair View Nursing Home.

Gloria was born on November 29, 1926 in Sedalia, Missouri
and graduated from Smith Cotton High School in 1944.  In 1946 she married and moved to Oregon where she raised five children and became one of the first female Oregon State Police Troopers. She had a distinguished career with the OSP from 1969 to 1987. She was a regular member of the OSP Basic Academy camp staff.  In 1990 she returned home to Sedalia to care for her mother.

Gloria lived a full and interesting life despite her bouts with cancer. She didn’t know a
stranger, and cherished her many long lasting friendships with childhood friends, Oregonfriends, OSP friends, and friends she met wherever she traveled. Gloria was a proud and devoted member of the United Methodist Church.  Gloria was alsoa member of the Business & Professional Women’s Organization.  Her mother, Blanche Erna Small Reid, her father, James Albert Reid, and her uncle Harry Wesley Small preceded Gloria in death.

Gloria enjoyed spending time fly fishing, golfing with her kids, grand kids and friends,
dancing and traveling across the United States.  Gloria is survived by her only daughter Ann Marie Ruecker of Wilsonville, OR and four sons Thomas Reid Slusher, Donald Gene Slusher, Joseph Wesley Slusher, The Dalles, OR and James Grover Slusher, Hood River, OR, six grandchildren, one great-grandson all of Oregon, three nieces and many other dear friends and family members.

A Celebration of Gloria’s life will take place April 11, 2008.  Visitation will be held at HeckartFuneral Home, 903 South Ohio, Sedalia, MO at 12:00 noon immediately followed by 1:30 pm graveside services at Crown Hill Cemetery, S Engineer St., Sedalia MO. Gloria requested contributions to the Oregon State Police Foundation or other favorite charity in lieu of flowers.
