Roy Cecil Snapp, 78, of Smithton, died Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
He was born December 22, 1926, in Postal, near Beaman, a son of Thomas and Hazel Taylor Snapp. On January 7, 1949, in Topeka, Kan., he was married to JoEllen Siegel, who survives of the home.
Mr. Snapp was a member of Granite Lodge 272 AF and AM and Local Union 588,
where he was a business agent. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a construction worker, before retiring in 1989.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a frogman.
Also surviving are six sons, Randy Snapp, of Sedalia, Tracy Snapp, of Smithton, Justin Snapp, and his wife, Kim, of Sedalia, Corey Snapp, of Sedalia, Jaret Snapp, and his wife, June, of Sedalia, and Shannon Snapp, and his wife, Ginger, of Sedalia; seven
daughters, Tammie Stout, of Sedalia, LaDonna Klein, of Sedalia, Rhonda Brown, and her husband, Mike, of Sedalia, Vintra Watts, and her husband, Charlie, of Grain Valley, Kay Dollinger, and her husband, Ron, of Sedalia, Bridgett Marcum, of Sedalia, and Monica Hudson, and her husband, Quentin, of Florence; a brother, Charles Snapp, of Borger, Texas; thirty grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, Junior Snapp and Omer Lee Snapp; two sisters, Rena Snapp and Ruth Snapp; and a granddaughter, Sara Brown.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel,
with the Rev. Bob Wasson officiating. Burial will be in Highland Sacred Gardens, with Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2591 conducting military honors at the graveside.
Pallbearers will be Jason Stout, Zachary Watts, Travis Brown, Joshua Watts, Adam
Marcum, Trenton Snapp, Austin Marcum and Colby Snapp. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Snapp, Trey Snapp, Kendall Snapp, Bill Paxton, Jerry Parker, Melvin Leicher, Lawrence Roe, Ralph Perriguey, Ken Clemons, Jason Paul Chamberlin, Jimmy Thompson, Elwood Hayes and J.W. Marlin.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Bothwell Hospice or Child Safe.
