Mrs. Spiess was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed gardening , cooking, crafts and spending time with her family. She and her husband owned Ed’s Standard Service Station. She also worked several years for Brooking Park and Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Centers, from which she retired.
Also surviving are three sons, Dale E. Spiess Jr., and his wife, Anne, of Wakarusa, Kan., David L. Spiess, and his wife, Pat, of Sedalia, and Gary A. Spiess, and his wife, Debra, of South Bend, Ind.; a daughter, Joyce Spiess, and her husband, Gary Williams, of Sedalia; and nine grandchildren, Jeff Colvin, Justin Caton, Lauren Spiess, Nick Spiess, Jennifer Spiess, Erica Spiess, Kaitlin Spiess, Emma Spiess and Isabelle Spiess; and four great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a brother, Bill McCullough.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Don Kelley and the Rev. Tony Chapman officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Colvin, Justin Caton, Rev. Tony Chapman, Byron Smith, David Rhoades and Denny Kabler.
Burial will be in Highland Sacred Gardens.

Nelle Marie Spiess, 73, of Sedalia, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2006, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
She was born March 10, 1933, in Columbus, Kan., a daughter of John R. and Alma Alice Doyle McCullough. On June 10, 1951, in Miami, Okla., she was married to Dale Edward “Ed” Spiess, who survives of the home.
