Paul Herman Steinkuhler, 95, of La Monte, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, at Cass County Medical Center in Harrisonville.

He was born April 25, 1912, in Pettis County, a son of John and Flora Miller Steinkuhler. On Oct. 12, 1946, in Johnson County, he was married to Idah Haller, who survives of the home.
Mr. Steinkuhler was a member of La Monte Christian Church, where he served as
a deacon for several years. He worked for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Company for
fifteen years, and then had a business of his own in La Monte. He was very active in the community, serving as mayor and on the school board. He was a member of American Legion Post 520. He served three-and-a-half years in the Army during World War II.

Also surviving are a daughter, Paulena Broyles, and her husband, Ed, of Smithton;
two brothers, Glen and Ralph Steinkuhler; four sisters, Mary Steinkuhler, Kathryn
Steinkuhler, Naomi Steinkuhler, and Hazel Allen; a grandson, Duane Frerking, of
Versailles; three granddaughters, Paula Debates, of Columbia, Jennifer Peacock, of
Memphis, Tenn., and Sarah Rea, of Sedalia; and 12 great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Steinkuhler.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 15, 2007, at La Monte Christian Church, with the Rev. Gene Smith and the Rev. Ed Broyles officiating.

Pallbearers will be Larry Clear, James Tyler, Clyde Brownfield, Dale Comfort, Philip Twenter and Raymond DeBates.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Murray, Arthur Mahin, Elroy Schroeder, Wilson Tyler, Owen Russell, Raymond Wasson and Jerry Owsley.

Burial will be in La Monte Cemetery, with military rites by American Legion Post 520.
