F. D. Thomas, 76, of Sedalia, died Wednesday morning, February 16, 2005, at
Bothwell Regional Health Center.
He was born September 9, 1928, in Hughesville, son of William Henry and Sallie
Kirkman Thomas. On October 11, 1952, in Sedalia, he married Maria Halper
Murray, who survives of the home.
Mr. Thomas was raised in the Baptist faith and was a member of Moose Lodge and
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2591. He loved fishing and gardening. He was a
United States Army veteran of the Korean War and received two bronze service
stars. Mr. Thomas worked as an auto mechanic at Askew Motors and retired from
Bryant Motors in 1991.
Survivors include his wife, Maria Thomas, of the home; three sons, Ray Murray,
Richard Thomas and Ronald Thomas, all of Sedalia; two daughters, Linda Van Dyke and Debra Dugan, both of Sedalia; a sister, Edna Pearl Krause, of Concordia; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four
brothers, William, Jennings, Oscar and Harry Thomas; two sisters, Ollie May
Thomas and Helen Taylor; and a granddaughter, Carrie Yeager.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2005, at the Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Rodney Brown officiating.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Thomas Dugan , Adam Murray, Chad Thomas, David Thomas, Toby Brown and John Gabler.
Burial will be in Highland Sacred Gardens Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. -11 a.m. Saturday at the
Heckart/Gillespie Funeral Home.
