William Lewis Thompson, 87, of Sedalia, died Thursday morning, June 3, 2004 at Four Seasons Living Center.

He was born June 6, 1916, in St. Louis, Missouri, son of William L. and Lula Carlisle Thompson.  On August 5, 1939, in La Monte, Missouri, he married Frances I. Snapp, who survives of the home.

Mr. Thompson was a member of East Sedalia Baptist Church. He worked as a bridge builder for Missouri Pacific Railroad, retiring in 1976 after 30 years of service.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and sharing adventures with his great grandson.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Thompson, of the home; two sons, William H. Thompson, of Nelson, and James L. Thompson, of Smithton; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 5, 2004 at the Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. John Barrett officiating.

Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Grant Newton, Denny Arnold, Ron Arnold, Larry Arnold, Don Arnold and Chad Kindle. Honorary pallbearers will be J.W. Marlin, Donnie Kabler, Marvin Meek, Charlie Curry, Roy Snapp, Elwood Hayes and Bob Pummill.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Heckart/Gillespie Funeral Home.
