Mrs. Vanderlinden was a member of Faith Baptist Church and American Legion Post 642 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting, cross word puzzles, cooking, fishing and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a homemaker and had lived in Sedalia most of her life.
Survivors include a son, Ben “Benny” Vanderlinden, and his wife, Jennie, of Sedalia; a daughter, Jennifer K. Stevenson, and her husband, Robert, of Sedalia; two sisters, Margie Cox, of Sedalia, and Carolyn Speaker, of Otterville; five grandchildren, Shannon Demshick, Daniel Keltner, Rebekah Thompson, Heather Prince and Nathan Vanderlinden; and nine great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Kimberly D. Nutt; three brothers, Kenneth Allen, Dennis Allen and Max Allen; a sister, Donna Krug; two half brothers, James Allen and Quentin Allen; and her parents.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2006, at Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Tony Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mark Allen, Rick Allen, Tony Neth, Daniel Keltner, Chad
Thompson and Steven Demshick. Honorary pallbearers will be Judy Allen, Patty Allen and JoAnn Grant.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Bothwell Hospice or American Cancer Society.
Helen Elizabeth Vanderlinden, 77, of Sedalia, died Tuesday, January 17, 2006, at her home.
She was born May 1, 1928, in Sedalia, a daughter of James Arthur and Margie O’Bannon Allen. On March 7, 1948, in Sedalia, she was married to Charles W. Vanderlinden, who died July 11, 2002.
