Jack Elliott Vaught, 85, of Sedalia, died Wednesday, October 17, 2007, at
Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Gillespie, Illinois.
He was born March 15, 1922, in Bunceton, a son of Ed and Anna Bell McCabe Vaught.
Mr. Vaught attended Bethlehem Baptist Church. He was a skilled woodworker and could fix about anything. He enjoyed helping other people. He retired from civil service at Granite City Engineering Company. He served in the Army Air Corps for six years during World War II.
Surviving are two sons, Russell Vaught, of Dorchester, Ill., and Basil “Dean”
Vaught, of Las Vegas, Nev.
He was predeceased by a brother, Basil Vaught; and a half sister, Vera Claas.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 20, 2007, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Corbett Martin officiating.
Pallbearers will be Russell Vaught, Dean Vaught and Mike Tucker.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Bethlehem Baptist Church building fund.
