Mrs. Bishop was a member of Bunceton Baptist Church. She spent her life tending to her family, her church, her community and her garden.

Surviving are seven children, Bill Gene Bishop, and wife, Sue, of Gualala, Calif., Roy Lee Bishop, and wife, Lois, of Kearney, Lloyd Dean Bishop, and wife, Pam, of Bunceton, Forrest Allen Bishop, and wife, Charlene, of Clinton, Ruth Ellen Young, and husband, Bob, of Bunceton, David Wayne Bishop, and wife, Tammy, of Otterville, and Martha Frances Embry, and husband, Rick, of Boonville; 19 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; three sisters, Marianna Paxson, of Pilot Grove, Dorothy Ward, of Visalia, Calif., and Viola Phillips, of Florence; and three brothers, Charles Brodersen, of Otterville, John Brodersen, of Florence, and Elmer Brodersen, of Elk City, Okla.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Casey Bishop; and two brothers, Roy Brodersen and Leo Brodersen.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 7, at Syracuse Baptist Church, with the Rev. Billy Martensen and the Rev. Harold Nicks officiating.

Casket bearers will be grandsons, Jess Bishop, Chris Bishop, Greg Bishop, Eric Bishop, Kevin Young, Brian Young, Brent Young, Brandon Bishop, Clayton Skaggs, Aaron Embry and Kyle Embry.

Burial will be in Syracuse Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at Syracuse Baptist Church.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Bunceton Baptist Church or Katy Manor Nursing Home.
Velma Frances Bishop, 90, of Bunceton, died Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at Katy Manor Nursing Home in Pilot Grove.

She was born Aug. 25, 1918, in Morgan County, a daughter of Bernhardt and Pearl Frances Steele Brodersen. On Jan. 10, 1942, in Tipton, she married Forrest William "Bill" Bishop, who died Nov. 12, 1991.
