Virgil Lee Deuel, 96, of Sedalia, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, at Four Seasons Living Center.

He was born Nov. 27, 1911, in Prairie Home, a son of George Lafayette and Susan Telitha Sommers Deuel. On Nov. 14, 1943, in Ely, Nev., he was married to Gladys Violet
Forth, who died Jan. 18, 2006.

Mr. Deuel was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was a bottler for Coca-Cola
for several years. He then worked at Brown Oil Company, until retiring. He enjoyed
photography. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1942 to 1945.

Surviving are a daughter, Shirley Weist, and her husband, Bill, of Trenton, Ill.;
three grandchildren, Sharon Schaubert, of Effingham, Ill., Robert Weist, of New Mendon, Ill., and Brenda Weist, of Keizer, Oreg.; two great grandchildren, Danielle Gerstenecker and Andrew Gerstenecker; and three step great grandchildren, Lauren, Heath and Lance Schaubert.

He was predeceased by a sister, Marie Hall; and two brothers, George William Deuel and Edward Deuel.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ted Francis officiating.

Pallbearers will be Robert Weist, Andrew Gerstenecker, Steven Schaubert, Bob Karbinas, Bill Wheeler and Lance Gerken.

Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the U.S. Army.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Four Seasons Living Center Alzheimer’s Unit.
