Aileen Marie Vermaas, 86, of Sedalia, passed away, Saturday, November 28, 2009 after a lengthy illness, at the Four Seasons Care Center in Sedalia.
Aileen, the oldest child of Marvin and Edith Kennon, was born near Fair Play, Polk County Missouri, June 15, 1923. She attended schools in Independence, Missouri, graduating from William Chrisman High School in 1940. She worked as a Billing Instructor for Montgomery Ward and Company for 12 years.
Aileen married Chester Vermaas in 1953 in Denver, Colorado. To this Union, a son, Bradley was born. Aileen moved with her family to Sedalia in 1955, assisting her husband in his work as a Conservation Agent. Aileen loved raising many varieties of flowers and doing family genealogy. She made hundreds of Afghans for relatives and friends, she especially enjoyed travel throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico, sightseeing and taking pictures of wildlife and wild flowers.
Aileen was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters. She leaves to mourn a son Barry and his wife Terry of St. Joseph, Missouri and a son Bradley and his wife Diana of Butler, Missouri. She also leaves a sister Reta Badder and a brother Roy Kennon of Independence, Missouri and a brother, Marvin Kennon of Blue Springs, Missouri.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Marvin Kennon officiating.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Heckart Funeral Home.
