Helen Wilhelmina Verts, 79, of Versailles, formerly of Sedalia, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
She was born Feb. 21, 1930, in Cooper County, a daughter of Edson and Gertrude Hoff Haller. On June 18, 1950, in Kozad, NE, she married Charles T. Verts, who died Aug. 14, 1997.
Mrs. Verts was the proprietor of Kay's Greenhouse. She was a member of Maplewood Church and the Sedalia Garden Club. She enjoyed sewing and gardening.
Surviving are two sons, David Verts, of Sedalia, and Dale Verts, and his wife, Candace, of Florence; a daughter, Djuana Osby, and her husband, Peer, of Lakewood, CO; five grandchildren, Kayla Osby, Alexa Osby, Remington Verts, Savannah Verts, and Abigail Verts; two sisters, Alice Painter and Alvera Baslee; and a brother, Milford Haller.
She was preceded in death by a son, Daryl Verts; and two brothers, Harold and Andrew Haller.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Todd Forman officiating.
Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Boonville.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Heckart Funeral Home.
