Bessie Virginia Vinson, 92, of Sedalia, died Saturday, September 25, 2004, at her home.
She was born July 23, 1912, in Morgan County, daughter of William T. and Pinkey Emily Ford Adair. On May 19, 1928, in Sedalia, she was married to John Lewis Vinson, who died December 9, 1977.
Mrs. Vinson enjoyed quilting, dancing, fishing, gardening, cooking, traveling
and rocking her grandbabies. She was a Pentecostal.
Survivors include two sons, John “Bud” Vinson, of Pilot Grove, and Russell A.
Vinson, and his wife, Mary, of Sedalia; four daughters, Daisy M. Huffman, and her husband, Robert, of Warsaw, Dorcas Ann Wolfe, and her husband, Larry, of Blue Springs, Georgia Pope and Shirley Vansell, both of Sedalia; twenty-one grandchildren; fifty-six great grandchildren; and sixteen great great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a grandson, Lewis Vinson; three brothers, John
Adair, William Adair and Junior “Scrappy” Adair; and a sister, Annie Vinson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Heckart/Gillespie
Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Robert Huffman and the Rev. Bob Wasson
officiating.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Michael Vansell, Jimmie Vansell, Mark Vinson,
Eddie Huffman, Rodney Vinson and Dennis Vinson.
Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters, Janice Lefevers, Debbie Oswald, Joetta Mark, Shelly Baro, Lisa Cornwall, Julie Wiskur, Becky Parker, Rena Norman, Gayle Getsay, Patti Stewart, Tonya Schuber, Stacey Wright and Christa Tyler.
Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Heckart/Gillespie
Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Bothwell Hospice.
