Benjamin Homer Walter, 90, of Sedalia, died Sunday, July 3, 2005, at Fair View Nursing Home.
He was born August 21, 1914, in Centertown, a son of Robert and Bertha Higgins Walter. On October 12, 1934, he was married to Goldie M. Morris, who survives of the home.
Mr. Walter was a member of East Sedalia Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and playing guitar, harmonica and violin. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.. He worked in the paint
department at General Motors for 35 years. He was a member of United Auto
Workers union.
Also surviving are a son, Benjamin Walter, Jr., and his wife, Jeanie, of Columbia; a brother, Adam Walter, of Chicago, Ill.; three sisters, Nellie Shireman, of Houstonia, Ann Louise Bluhm, of Sedalia, and Bessie Helen Yoman, of San Diego, Calif.; three grandchildren, William Dustin Walter, of Columbia, Stuart Andrew Walter and Beth Ann Hays, both of Fulton; and four great grandchildren, Amity, Kate, Claire and Ben.
He was predeceased by his parents; four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2005, at Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. H. Wayne Isgriggs officiating.
Burial will be in Smithton Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ben Walter, Dustin Walter, Stuart Walter and Shawn Hays.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Wednesday at
the funeral home.
