Edna M. Wansing, 65, of Sedalia, died Friday, January 30, 2004 at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
She was born September 24, 1938, in Marshall, daughter of James and Lola Mae Racy Self. On July 23, 1973, in Sedalia, she married Charles J. Wansing, Sr., who survives of the home.
Mrs. Wansing was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was the past madam president of the Eagles Post 4189 Ladies Auxiliary, past president of the American Legion Post 642 Ladies Auxiliary and past president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2591 Ladies Auxiliary. She was a graduate of Marshall High School. She co-owned and operated the Chez-When Tavern for 32 years. She lived most of her life in Sedalia.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Wansing, Sr., of the home; a son, Charles Wansing III, of Sedalia; a daughter, Tammy Forsee, of Sedalia; three step sons, Mitchell Wansing, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Charles Wansing II, of Phoenix, Arizona, and David Wansing, of Troy, Missouri; three step daughters, Sandra Poynter, of Sedalia, Mary Allen, of Centralia, Missouri and Amy West, of McLean, Illinois; two brothers, Raymond Lee Self, of Camden, South Carolina, and James Lee Self Jr., of Sumter, South Carolina; two sisters, Betty Ann Self, of Sedalia, and Maggie C. Bardin, of Sedalia; twelve grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, James Howard Cable, Jr. and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 2, 2004, at the Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel with Father Tom Albers officiating.
Pallbearers will be Charles J. Wansing IV, David Collins, David Busick, David Bower, Billy Bardin and Danny Bardin. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2591 Ladies Auxiliary.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call after 9 a.m. Monday at the Heckart/Gillespie Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2 p.m. Monday. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2591 Cancer Fund.
