Mr. Wasson was currently serving his second term as Mayor of the City of Sedalia. He was an ordained Baptist minister and was pastor of Mt. Herman Baptist Church.
He was a graduate of Hughesville High School and San Diego State College. He was store manager and district manager for Safeway Stores, Southern California division, as well as store and district manager for Consumers Markets in Joplin, Springfield and Sedalia. Later, he was owner of Bob’s AF Super in Sedalia. He served as the coordinator of the Sedalia Senior Center.
Bob was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2591, American Legion Post 642, Voiture 333, 40&8, the Mt. Herman Cemetery Association, the Whiteman Area Leadership Council, the Blue Ribbon Steering Committee, and was president of the Whiteman Base Community Council.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Dr. Deanna Nelson, and her husband, Richard, of Green Ridge, Denise Vaughan, and her husband, Rick, of Kansas City, MO, and Amanda Wasson-Goss, and her husband, Emerson, of Sedalia; a sister, Betty Singer, and her husband, Leonard, of Sedalia; four grandchildren, Robbie, Trenton, Reed and Tyler; two great grandchildren, Sydney and Jordan; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Nan M. Powell; and four brothers, Lawrence B., Kenneth R., James N. and Gordon M. "Joe" Wasson.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2009, at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Drew Hill, Mr. Keith Riesberg, Mr. Jim Mathewson and Mr. Leonard Singer officiating.
Urn bearers will be Robbie Nelson, Joe Carr, Trenton Willis, Reed Nelson and Tyler Goss.
Burial will be in Mt. Herman Cemetery, with the Rev. Marlin Brown officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Voiture 333, 40&8, and Smith-Cotton J-ROTC.
The family will receive friends from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2009, at First Baptist Church.
Friends may sign the guest book from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2009, at the City Hall Council Chambers.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Smith-Cotton J-ROTC, the Sedalia Student Leadership Council, or Mt. Herman Cemetery Association.

Robert E. "Bob" Wasson, 75, of Sedalia, passed away Friday morning, April 24, 2009, at his home.
He was born October 20, 1933, in Sedalia, a son of James Bryant and Marie R. Byrne Wasson. On February 10, 1962, in Las Vegas, Nevada, he married Eleanore R. Rietz, who survives of the home.
