Mr. Wear was valedictorian of Green Ridge High School and graduated from Central Business College. Because he longed for a college education, he ensured that his children graduated from college. The youngest child is a medical doctor. He was an accountant for more than 50 years with the firms of Taylor-Wagner, Shirley Wagner, and Moore, Horton and Carlson. He loved being busy and working with numbers. Mr. Wear retired in 1997 after suffering a major heart attack and became known among
his church friends and family for his excellent homemade pies. When he was young, he payed harmonica, guitar and fiddle in a country band. Until recently, he enjoyed walking, riding his bike and fishing. His hobbies in recent years included baking and reading. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for 48 years and taught Sunday School for many years.
Survivors include two sons, Rev. Gregg Wear, and his wife, Kim, of Lee’s Summit; Dr. Kyle Wear, and his wife, Lynn, of Cleveland, Ohio; a daughter, Janet Wear-Enloe, and her husband, Keith Enloe of Jefferson City; seven grandchildren, Hannah Enloe, Natalie Wear, Hillary Enloe, Madison and Clay Wear, and Lauren and Matthew Wear; five step-grandchildren, Brandon, Celeste, Gabriel, Nathan and Zachary Frye; and a sister, Erma Lee Pritchard of Sedalia.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Ted Francis officiating.
Pallbearers will be Roy Bryson, Frank Gooch, Merlin Balke, Fritz Strodtman, Jack Howell, Jack Ensminger and Ken Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be Ward Golston, Wayne Pritchard, Jim Werneke and Duane Camp.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Calvary Baptist Church.

Clayton E. Wear, 82, of Sedalia died Friday, May 2, 2008 at his home.
He was born March 8, 1926, in Green Ridge, MO, a son of Jesse James and Leola Fay Harkless Wear. On June 12, 1954, in Clinton,MO, he was married to Betty Nichols, who survives of the home.
