James Wayne Hayes, 69, of Sedalia, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2007, at his home.

He was born Jan. 14, 1938, in Lexington, a son of James William and Mary Alice Bell Hayes. On May 29, 1965, in Sedalia, he was married to Pearl Catherine
Ditzfeld, who survives of the home.
Mr. Hayes was a member of Goodwill Chapel United Methodist Church and
Moose Lodge 1494. He retired from Pepsi in 2004. He enjoyed his farm animals,
fishing and traveling with his kettle korn, making friends everywhere he went.

Also surviving are two daughters, Catherine E. Hemme, and her husband,
Larry, of Sedalia, and Carla L. Hamilton, and her fiancé, John Robert Hughes, of
Sedalia; two sisters, Rose Seitz and Ida Blanche Willis, both of Lexington, and two brothers, Dixon L. Hayes, of Fremont, Mo., and Hamilton Dean Hayes, of Sedalia; and one grandson, James William Hamilton, of the home.

He was predeceased by his parents; four brothers, Eldon R. Hayes, William
Hayes, John Hayes and Jason Hayes; a sister, Norma J. Burch; and his father and
mother-in-law, Raymond and Martha Ditzfeld.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, at Heckart Funeral Home and Cremation Services, with the Rev. Mary Biesemeyer officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be Willard Chewning, David Cramer, Jess Mascarenaz, Mike Poland, Jess Willis, Fred Seitz, Ray Ditzfeld, Ray Thomas, George Ditzfeld and Waunita Karbinas.

Cremation will follow the services and the ashes will be scattered.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the James William Hamilton education fund.
