Edith Blynn White, 88, of Green Ridge, died Sunday, January 23, 2005, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

She was born November 29, 1916, in Smithton, daughter of Edward G. and Ethel Boucher Ringen. On May 30, 1941, in Sedalia, she was married to Vaughn White, who survives of the home.
Mrs. White was a member of Green Ridge Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the Women’s Circle. She was also a member of Camp Branch Homemakers Club, Pettis Chapter 279 of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chatter Club and Royal Neighbors. She enjoyed traveling the United States and was a member of National Campers Travel Club. She and her husband spent winters in Texas for 23 years.

She was an elementary school teacher for 42 years, teaching in one-room schoolhouses at Olive Branch, Camp Branch, Van Natta, Cottage and Knob Noster. She retired in 1977 from Green Ridge R-8 School District, where she had taught since 1952. She was a host’s program volunteer for the Harlingen, Texas school district for twelve years, teaching English as a second language.

Survivors also include two daughters, Margaret “Peggy” White, of San Diego, Calif., and Jerusha Lynn White, of Kansas City.

She was predeceased by a brother, Edward G. Ringen.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January , 2005, at Green Ridge Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dr. Larry Wheeler officiating.

Pallbearers will be Gregory Richardson, Phillip Twenter, Colter Stevens, Brian Deutsch, John Robert White and Phillip White.

Burial will be in Green Ridge Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Thursday at the church.

The family suggests memorial contributions to American Cancer Society or American Lung Association.
