The Rev. Donald Grant Wilson, 77, of Sedalia, passed away Monday, January 2, 2012, at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.

He was born August 4, 1934, in Kalamazoo, MI, the son of Donald Henry and Florence A. McQuin Wilson. On December 28, 1956, in Parchment, MI, he married
Gwendolyn S. Tolhurst, who survives of the home. Don and Gwen just celebrated their 55th anniversary.

Don was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1953 to 1957 during the Korean War. He attended Western Michigan University and Central Michigan University. He attended seminary at Bexley Hall from 1967 to 1969.

He was ordained into the Episcopal deaconate in 1969 and the priesthood in 1970. He served Episcopal churches in Standish, MI, Westerville, OH, Hudson, OH and Sedalia, MO. He also taught at State Fair Community College and Missouri Valley College.

In addition to his wife, survivors include his children, Eileen Wilson Augustin (Daniel), Donald A. Wilson (Susan), Jon M. Wilson (Sarah), Lisa Wilson Young (Willis), and David B. Wilson (Virginia); his grandchildren, Andrew, Danielle, Donald, Christopher, Michelle, Jon Alan, Grant (Alexandra), Joshua, Benjamin, Stephanie, Zachary, Kaleb, Quinn, Toby, Cierra and Sophia; his great-grandchildren, Kadynce and Kylie; and a sister, Sally Taylor.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy Woodruff and Claudia Butcher; and a brother-in-law, Denison Taylor.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Christ Episcopal Church in Boonville, with the Right Reverend Martin S. Field, the Reverend Martha Byer, the Reverend William Fasel and the Reverend Russ Peck officiating.

Pallbearers will be Don Wilson, Jon Wilson, David Wilson, Daniel Wilson, Jon Wilson, Dan Augustin and Will Young.

Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, with full military honors by the U.S. Air Force and VFW Post 2591.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Open Door Benevolent Ministries or the American Heart Association.
