Wanneta Lucille Yessen Smith, 92, of Sedalia, died Thursday, Oct., 11, 2007 at Fair View Nursing Home.

She was born March 8, 1915, near Latham, a daughter of Clem and Hattie Jane Williams Yessen. On April 15, 1934, in Sedalia, she was married to Perry Lee Smith, who died in January 1987.

She retired from Inter-State Studios after more than 45 years of service. She took great pride in helping raise her Yessen siblings. From her back porch swing, she spent several hours enjoying her flower garden. She lived most of her life in Sedalia.

Surviving are a daughter, Deborah Biermann, and her husband, Steve, of Sedalia; a brother, Carl Yessen, of Overland Park, Kan.; a grandson, Billy Biermann, of Sedalia; 12 nieces and nephews; and longtime caregiver, Patricia Domingue.

She was also predeceased by five sisters, Marie Wells, Ruby Dameron, Blanche Yessen, Louise Orr and Dorothy Lewis; and two brothers, Kenneth Yessen and Lawrence Yessen.

A private family service will be held at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jim Downing officiating.

Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.

There will be no family visitation.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Bothwell Hospice or The Sedalia Heritage Foundation.
