Mr. Wurl was a member of Grace Baptist Church. He retired from the U.S. Army
in 1977. His rank was CWII. He had served two years in Germany, two years in Vietnam and a year in Korea. Later he retired from Hays-Lemmerz International. He enjoyed farming and remodeling old houses. He had lived in the Sedalia and Green Ridge areas for 28 years.

Also surviving are a son, David Wurl, of Kansas City; two daughters, Sandra
Lewis, and her husband, Terry, of Independence, and Judy Long, and her husband,
Shawn, of Warrensburg; two brothers, Jim Wurl and Bill Wurl, both of Quincy, Wash.; a sister, Bertha Albert, of Phoenix, Ariz.; a half brother, David Malone, of Coco, Fla.; and five grandchildren, Jessica Wurl, Matthew Lewis, Jonathan Lewis, Tyler Long and Peyton Long. He was predeceased by his parents; a stepbrother, Jack Malone; and a stepsister, Dorothy Malone.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2006, at Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Alvin Sipe and the Rev. Gerald Berry officiating. Burial will be in Highland Sacred Gardens, with military honors conducted by Ft. Leonard Wood Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be David Ross, Greg McDowell, David Doyle, David Slocum, Jason Sipe and Dan Ingram. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Grace Baptist Church.
Hans Wurl, 71, of Sedalia, died Friday, May 5, 2006, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

He was born April 17, 1935, in Nyssa, Oregon, a son of Hans Sr. and Lucy May Jones Wurl. On Jan. 11, 1959, in Aberdeen, Maryland, he was married to Evelyn June
Graham, who survives of the home.
