Robert W. Young, 31, of Sedalia, died Monday, March 1, 2004 at his home.
He was born June 25, 1972, in Sedalia, son of Steven Wayne and Belinda McCune Young.
Mr. Young was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and the Fraternal Order of Deputy Sheriffs. He was a
deputy and dispatcher for the Pettis County Sheriff's Department. He played drums and sang in a country western band. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving are his parents of Sedalia; two brothers, Steven Young, Jr. and Ryan C. Young, both of Sedalia; a sister, Maggie Freitas, and her husband, Tony, of Sedalia; his maternal grandmother, Cleo McCune, of Sedalia; his paternal grandparents, Clay and Mary Ellen Young, of Sedalia; two nieces, Kaylee Freitas and Karli Young; and two nephews, Jeffrey Freitas and Tyler Freitas. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Arthur McCune.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2004 at the Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Hy Randleas officiating.
Pallbearers will be Chris Cline, John Cline, John Cook, Kevin Lovewell, Mike Koenig, Roger Hall, Myron McNeal, Travis Lorenz and Gary Starke.
Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Kennedy, David Gerken, Steve Cline, Neil Trout, Dennis Gerken, Kevin Bond, and members of the Sedalia Police Department, the Pettis County Sheriff's Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with honors presented at the graveside by the Sedalia Police Department Honor Guard.
Friends may call after 8:30 a.m. Thursday, March 4, 2004 at the Heckart/Gillespie Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
